During the winter season, the immune system of the human being becomes very weak. This is the reason that people get sicker in this season. Ayurveda practitioners say that there are three types of immunity. Sahaja (genetically affecting immunity), Karaj (effect on immunity with a change in weather), and rationality (change in immunity from diet and yoga practice).
Experts say that if we make Ayurveda a part of our lifestyle, then the problem of immunity can be rid of forever. In winter, the problem of immunity is more, so according to Ayurveda, you should take special precautions along with including some things in the diet.
More than half of the immunity in the body is driven by the process of digestion. Ayurveda balances digestive power with a ‘fire’ in the stomach. Our body starts to become sluggish during the winter season, so this fire starts losing its strength in the stomach. So to keep it alive in your diet, include natural things like natural oil, desi ghee, and pure butter in the diet.
In winter, it is very important to boil vegetables and eat them. Eat plenty of soup, stews, and broth made from winter food. Carrots, beets, green leafy vegetables, and other roots vegetables are very beneficial. But eating these vegetables boiled would be more beneficial.
According to Ayurveda, eating some things in this season causes double damage to health. In this season, one should avoid eating packaged food or food prepared weeks or months in advance. Also eating out of season food will spoil your immunity.
Dry fruits are called Sanjeevani of winter. In winter, everyone should add dry fruits to their diet. Things like cashew, pistachio, dates, almonds, walnuts will not only keep your body warm in winter but will also increase immunity. All these things taste much better than the expensive diet in the market. In winter, immunity stops working due to the body being sluggish. You can resort to yoga or any workout to bring agility to the body. By doing this, your immunity will also improve.
