COVID-19 pandemic has impacted many businesses and the economy of the country. It has changed the lifestyle of many people. Due to safety reasons for the pandemic, people are avoiding outside food. Because of this many restaurants are forced to shut down. According to the reports by food delivery and restaurant Discovery firm Zomato around 40% of the restaurants will not be opening again due to the distribution caused by the pandemic.
Around 17 % of the dining restaurants are open for the business while 43% are expected to open when the situation gets better. This survey was done in the past few days where it reached out to thousands of restaurants and customers across several cities in the country. To get feedback about the present situation and the future prospect of the industry. However, the number of restaurants it reached and the customers were not disclosed in the report.
The food industry has recovered to some extent and it will take to three months to reach pre-COVID levels.
