On Wednesday the cyclone Amphan has landfall on West Bengal Coast alongside the Bay of Bengal. The wind speed of Amphan has reached almost 200 Kmph over the coast, ravaged Kolkata and several parts of West Bengal as it left behind a trail of destruction by uprooting trees, destroying thousands of homes and swamping low-lying areas of the state. As the government has already evacuated more than 6 lakhs people from the coast, yet ‘Amphan’ has killed at least 12 persons.
As per the officials, man and a woman were killed when trees came crashing down on them in North 24 Parganas district, a 13-year-old girl died in a similar incident in adjoining Howrah, and 3 persons were killed in Hooghly and North 24 Paraganas districts due to electrocution. A woman and her 7 years old son were killed in the Regent Park area.
