On Sunday, 430 Australians and 14 New Zealand nationals preferred to go back to their countries. Australia arranged a special flight for their citizens that departed from Delhi to Melbourne while Americans don’t want to move from India. Since the U.S. is widely hit by novel corona virus, American nationals aren’t willing to go back to their native place.
Earlier this week, the U.S. President Donald Trump tweeted that stranded Americans can by fly back to their home. Special flights are being arranged for those and around 50,000 citizens have already moved back to the U.S.
The U.S. State department confirmed that their staff called 800 people to ask if they wanted to get back to America. Out of 800 only 10 people gave a positive response, rest preferred residing in India.
Even UK is repatriating their citizens, Tariq Ahmad the UK minister of state for South Asia and Commonwealth confirmed. He further added that they’re arranging special flights from New Delhi, Hyderabad, Amritsar, Mumbai and several others. Stranded Britishers departed from Goa and reached there on Thursday. On this weekend, more people will be going back home.
