ABP Majha has been brining the essence of Ganesh Utsav on TV since 2010, with on-air and on-ground coverage on its show “BAPPA MAJHA”. So, for the upcoming festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, the Marathi news channel along with UNICEF will raise funds through a TV campaign , which will broadcast 1340+mins of content including stories of people affected by the pandemic. They will also urge the viewers to donate for the affected families along with broadcasts of morning and evening Aartis , so that people can celebrate from home. The campaign will held from 16th august to 21st august 2020. The funds will also be used to support the vulnerable families , through UNICEF’s Jeevan Rath initiative.
Along with the funds, they will provide rations, hygiene kits and livelihood protection to the people, who are economically in worst situations. 60 public and private NGO’s will also come forward to help these people. Remembering these pandemic situation in mind, all the pandals and temples are advised to maintain social distance , hold limited congregations and reduce the size of the idols ,during the festival. While maintaining the norms , many small craftsman and other small businesses who depend on this festival for their earnings, will be economically hampered.

The socio-economic cost of the pandemic on the lives of children and their families is extremely high. Through this campaign, we intend to provide relief to the most vulnerable, excluded and displaced populations in the fight against Covid-19.”
