Meghalaya, one of the disciplined cities among the north-east region has been reported with the first positive case of COVID-19. A doctor from Bethany hospital has been tested positive for coronavirus on Monday. It has been stated officially by the chief secretary of Meghalaya, Shri M.S. Rao (IAS).
The chief secretary said, all the residents are requesting to register their name by calling on 108 or visiting the website of Meghalaya Government, who have visited the Bethany hospital from March 22.
As the state has reported the very first case of COVID-19, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has ordered that no patient, doctor, medical staffs should not leave the hospital premises. CM asked the Health Department to supervise the entire action.
That hospital has been converted into the quarantine facility. The health department is now locating those individuals, who’ve come across with that infected doctor. Also, 48-hour curfew has been imposed in the Shillong agglomeration area from April 14 by East Khasi Hills district magistrate.
