On Thursday, chief minister of Punjab Amrinder Singh informed that the number of families and the Minister tested positive for coronavirus has increased to 29 from 23 on Wednesday. The Congress leader had urged the legislators who came in contact with the infected MLAs who tested positive for coronavirus to not attend 20 Vidhan Sabha session on Friday.
Those who have tested negative within 48 hours of assembly are allowed to attend the session. Amrinder Singh who is the chief minister of Punjab said in an official statement that the protesters by Aam Aadmi Party led by MLAs are endangering the lives of the people. The people present at the gathering or Dharna’s around 25 to 250, they have become tinderboxes for sparkling for the spread of the pandemic and making the situation worse.
He further added and claimed that Aam Aadmi Party leaders or MLA who have started the protest over Punjab hooch tragedy and other issues, they have tested positive for the virus. In the starting the count of the cases reported in Punjab was low but now they are rising rapidly. The state has reported over 46000 cases including over 1,200 deaths
