Two people died and man more badly injured on Tuesday evening as police cross fire after an attack on The Congress MLA of Pulkeshinagar, Mr. Akhand Srinivas Murthy’s house. The attack was due to a Facebook post the MLA’s relative Naveen had posted against a minority community on Tuesday.
Hundreds of people belonging to a particular community set fire to the house of Congress MLA Akhand Srinivas Murthy in Kavalbyrasandra and damaged the DJ Halli police station in East Bengaluru. Akhand Srinivas Murthy and his family escaped unharmed.
Relative of the Congress MLA, Naveen who was arrested and then enquired by the Bengaluru police stated that his Facebook account has been hacked.
MLA Akhand Srinivas Murthy said to the reporters that necessary action would be taken against his relative and also came up with a video apologizing to the community for such a disrespectful post and appealed for peace.
Karnataka home minister Basavaraj Bommai said he issue will be investigated but violence is not the solution. He also said that additional forces have been deployed and action will be taken.
